Considered as one of the grand ways of decorating conference halls and banquet halls in general, the Chandeliers come in multiple styles, shapes, colours and sizes. Accordingly there is also great variation of prices.

One of the most interesting features of these decorative items is that they often combine the classic with the contemporary. For instance; the 18th century ornate cast ormolu types are now converted into forms that are matching with the modern day styles of decorating lights.

A difference is that while such chandelier lights were found in the houses of the people in the higher echelons of the society in the past, they are now available in star hotels and conference halls in most of the times. Especially the corporate conference rooms are often decorated with them as are the halls in big hotels.

Popularity of these decorating light devices is basically due to the refractive capabilities of the chandeliers. Of course such refractive capabilities were not the attributes of these chandeliers from inception. They were added during the 18th century with the improvements in the art of glassmaking.

Use of chandelier got an impetus in the 19th century when gas lights became the source of illumination. It resulted in the innovation of branched ceiling fixtures. That marked the appearance of branched chandelier that quickly became the style of the day. Once the gas illuminated chandeliers appeared in the mid 19th century, they continued to be there till replaced by the modern electric chandeliers.
